Portland for Mike's Deployment Ceremony
- go down to -------- mark for updates after found camera !!!The Army put on a great event for Mike's deployment and it was much appreciated! Much info to the families while spouse is away on how to take care of things and it was much needed.
Pics are from top to bottom, click on a pic for a larger pic and not much text, just intro... more on the update section...
Well, Mike is off for almost a year, will be back next July and I hope to be there to greet his team when they arrive! Mike, be sure and let PGR/me know!
I had a pic of Carson from Kristi's visit, why not! GBG
My first pic is is always "on the road again..." Got one with Samshel and Who Dog, second was traffic on 299 headed to Alturas. The Gov must think all things come thru road construction, sigh...
I had some shots of family in our room before heading out to supper... Mike wore my IBM Means Service pin for a tie tack...
Some shots while at supper... we didn't know what was goin' on, but it turned out fine!
Next day we had breakfast at IHOP, I stopped there after our PGR mission on Tues for a usual ham, eggs and fruit.. got a sandwich for the road..
Took some pics of Mike's "garage" we/he built. Diggin' 2' holes with a manual post digger is a bit of work, but got 'er done, I even dug one for fun... Ya had to be there! GBG! Plans changed mid stream... It's only "temporary"!!! GBG
First we had to paint around the front of the house, the lower trim needed it, got 'er done!
Took the kids fishing, one had Wyatt whistling and tapping his toe calling the fish!! GBG
Took a pic of the fog at Lincoln City, Or so I could show folks the great weather in Sept on the coast.... FOG... last of the camera... lost all the PGR pics, and finishing up the "garage"... sigh... + % *)!$%!)%*) ... is what it is...
Ate fog on and off all the way down the coast, and from Brookings to Eureka was colder'n crap! The coast may have great days, but not when I'm there, sigh...
Great visit! Next July!!!! Dad
Samshel and Who Dog...
Won't be long and Carson will be walking!
The Cranky dude and wife...
Mike's son Wyatt talking to G'maw...
The Honored son! Lookin' right good!
And Samshel and wife Nisel
Waiting for dinner...
Very good evening! Thanks to the Army! Bunch of Great folks! God Bless and come home safe!
Sunday AM heading out... had to stop at IHOP... Stopped at the same place after the PGR mission for a head out breakfast and took a sandwich to go.. SO I COULD ENJOY THE SUN ON THE BEACH IN SEPTEMBER.... sigh.....
Time to go fishin'
Great view!
Whistlin' for fish, tappin' toes! GBG
Time to work, painted the lowers...
Needed a garage out here....
Mike was in construction so all was figured out.... it's only temporary! GBG
----------------- updates!!! -------------------
OK, a "I don't believe it" moment!!!! I lost my camera in Depoe Bay, Or.. or so as I was told... basic scenario... I loose my camera on the Oregon coast somewhere and a guy from Denver, Co calls and says, I have your camera....
I was going (more) into and out of the fog, and had to put my mesh jacket liner in to keep the cold out.. the first stop to put it in was Depoe Bay, Or... where I lost it....
Well... a couple was walking along where I lost my camera and found it, they are from Denver, Co! and visit Depoe Bay once a year! He looked at the pics and saw Mike's license plate numbers and did a search to find the owners! THAT is determination! Thank you VERY" much!!!!
He called home and Donna said someone found your camera!!! Floored me!! But I did order a new one and this hopefully the last time I take a buncha blurry pics!!!!!!!!
He mailed it to me and here she goes..........
Hey! Sat AM cartoons!!!
Back to the "garage" got the jeep off roader and log splitter in and time to seal it up...
It was dark by time this was done... and a few beers.. I looked at the top instead of feeling the side so Mike sealed it crooked, sigh... Done and waiting for his return and nobody will be in there playing around in the meantime!
Now... the reason to get the jeep out of the garage, it was a tight fit, complicated by the fact that we had to fold the mirrors in to do it... Got 'er done!
And here's why... the kids will have all that garage space open over the months for some play area....
No time is long enough... on back to Portland, and wait for our scheduled PGR send-off mission. Mike, be sure and contact us on return! I hope to be there!
Well, not knowing squat about how it worked up there, parked outside in a police spot.. sitting there waiting, a guy walks over and said "I think your group is already inside".. got off the scoot and went in..
RC said... maybe that isn't a good idea parking in a police spot, head over to the garage. I'll guess they have a spot that is OK for PGR, but I didn't know where it was and just went into paid parking. Back to the line for the wait.
Still am amazed that 20 of us made it at 0530 on a workday!!! Outstanding! Thanks to all that showed!!!!
Closer shot, the RC (Ride Captain - Jerry) with the PGR patch on his back giving the group his "say once"...
Then out front to wait...
Bus #1!!!!! Mike was in bus #2...
Coming in now!
Time to get the gear out....
The Honor Line awaits!!!
And here they come, I missed a shot of Mike walking up! He gave me a thanks for being there, and I passed it on to the fine folks that did this mission and showed up!
And here is the last blurry shot from my *%!)%*!#$)*% camera!!!! I can't see the little screens, had I, we'da had another pic... The camera was resisting taking the pic while focusing and what not, when the flash finally went off, we were surprised and the camera was not in focus... sigh... is what it is....
The forever fog... one day.. one day... I'll ride down that "$%#)!@#$*% coast on a good day... 'til then....
